1960-68 Early days at Boeing plant in Morton, PA
Thought you might like some photos from when Boeing made the Navy-Marine Corps Ch-46 and the Army Chinooks at its plant in Morton, PA. Some pictures repeat, but the captions indicate the years and/or the models. Of note, the Chinook is still made there, the F model, and the Army has had all the early models back through the factory two or three times for upgrades. Note the flight line as well as the shop floor with both in various stages of manufacture. Morton was the initial production site, then Boeing moved to the current Ridley Park location on the Delaware River, just south of Philadelphia. Back in the 1960’s, Shop Pubs always listed a Morton address. Today, in addition to the CH-47, Boeing makes the fuselage of the V-22 at this site. I retired from Boeing-Philadelphia in 2006.
