President’s Corner – Dec 2015
It is December 2015 already. The Marine Corps Birthday Reunion Cruise is now history. Those of us who attended had a great time. I only gained 6 pounds that week.
The exact date of the Reunion 2017 has not been locked in as of yet, however the location in San Francisco has. It is not too early to start planning to attend with us. More information on the location is in another message, along with a website to start investigating on your own.
Our Website is an ongoing project. With the passing of Rich Duff last Oct. Chuck Johnson has stepped up and is our current webmaster. Rich had many projects and getting our website disconnected from the others was a challenge. It is now separate and on a new server host. Upgrade of the software is ongoing with Chuck learning it as he goes. We do have a professional on a retainer who comes in and digs Chuck out of the holes when necessary. However Chuck does need some help. If you are computer literate and willing to donate time to the Association, please contact Chuck by email at, kjohnson [AT] nctv [DOT] com.
Bob Basye volunteered and was approved to take the Board of Directors seat vacated by Frank Durbin’s passing. Thanks to Bob for stepping up.
Speaking of Bob, he and Stephen Benckenstein are working on a project to put pictures, slides and videos of our Viet Nam deployment on a DVD. If you have any and would be willing to share them please email Stephen at, beckmaaco at sbcglobal dot net.
We still have a few caps, Challenge Coins and other items that are available. One of the website projects is to have these displayed. Until that happens, if you want any of these items, or want to know what else we have email Tim Bastyr at, tmb2sdb at numail dot org.
Our flower fund is in good shape. If you know of one of our members who passed away, Please let Gary Kerr or myself know so we can arrange for a wreath from the Association.
