RTB Bruce A. Major
Bruce A. Major returned to base on Sep 21, 2024, at age 80. He was a Second Lieutenant with HMM-265 when the squadron boarded USS Boxer in April, 1966, bound for Vietnam. Bruce served 22 years on active duty as a naval aviator, flew three different aircraft and commanded two squadrons, followed by a 20 year career at Boeing. Bruce is survived by his wife, Jane P Major, his children, Jennifer McCreadie (Matthew) Michael (Beth Major), 4 grandsons, 3 brothers and a sister. Bruce was a 19 year resident of Newport Beach and in Orange County for the past 46 years. A funeral mass was held on Oct 4, 2024, at Saint John Vianney Chapel, Balboa Island, CA.
